Meet our Councillors

Bernard Purcell

Candidate for Mayor

After living and working around the world, Bernard Purcell is a proud resident of the City of Ryde and has been for nearly 20 years.

Bernard is passionate about the community that he lives and works in and is running for Mayor to end the past 3 years of inaction from a liberal led majority on the current council.

If elected Bernard is committed to cleaning up the Liberals’ Civic Centre mess, revitalising Cox’s Road and progressing a new car park and community space for Eastwood and the West Ryde Masterplan. A recent newly wed, Bernard and his wife live locally in Gladesville.

Penny Pedersen & Nasrin Azizi

East Ward Candidates

Penny is a performer/producer who has held board positions at NFP organisations and is a current Councillor representing East Ward. She is passionate about the environment, inclusion, gender equity and the arts.

Nasrin is the Executive Director of the Resolution Community services (RCS) and she has over 16 years’ experience in the community sector and five years’ experience in the disability sector. 

Lyndal Howison & Milo Kuga

Central Ward Candidates

Lyndal is a local and has lived in North Ryde for 11 years, raising her daughter with her husband Steve. A high school teacher with business experience in finance, government and NFP, Lyndal is committed to the environment, young people and local business. Having served previously as a local government councillor, Lyndal will deliver good governance and accountability.

Milo is a practicing lawyer and lives in Meadowbank. A young and enthusiastic advocate for his community, Milo has a focus in strategic planning in order to deliver good infrastructure for the community.

Dr. Felix Lo & Rebecca Cooke

West Ward Candidates

Dr. Felix Lo is a Lawyer, Notary Public and coach with decades of experience volunteering in leadership roles for various organisations including the local, Eastwood Chinese Senior Citizens Club in the capacity of Director. Felix is passionate about helping the community and is well known for his local advocacy.

Bec is a Marketing Professional and local mum of 2 boys who is an active member of the community both volunteering at her local public school and local sporting clubs. Bec is passionate about delivering for Ryde and will hit the ground running to advocate for open space and much needed community infrastructure.

Clr Charles Song

West Ward

Clr Charles Song is a principal lawyer of Sejong Legal based in West Ryde providing legal services for various types of clients. He also has a bachelor degree in Building and Construction Management (UNSW) and worked as a construction manager in commercial field for several years before he became a lawyer. He was elected to the City of Ryde as a councillor at the 2021 Local Government Election. Clr Song is committed to work closely with the community with his vast experience and expertise in both construction and legal field.

Clr Katie O’Reilly

Councillor Katie Hope O’Reilly was elected to the City of Ryde Council in December 2021 Local Government elections.

Katie has a background in customer service, accounts and business development.
With a long history of involvement in her local community, participating in a wide range of volunteer and fundraising events, Katie is passionate about Ryde and is committed to helping make it the best place to live, work and visit.

As a life long resident of Ryde, Katie remains an active volunteer in community-based organisations within the LGA and believes in open communication to deliver the best outcome
