Background:

Born in Goulburn NSW and raised in Newcastle NSW.

I originally trained as a Registered Nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney (1982-1985) and was a working RN until 1996.

I have a BA Communications from the University of Technology Sydney and a Producing Certificate from The Australian Film Television and Radio School.

I have been a media producer, in large and small businesses, since 1997 and currently have a media production business based in Ryde.

Working for you in Ryde:

I came to office, as a councillor in the City of Ryde, in late 2017.

When asked why I ran, I tell people that it is the logical step from volunteerism. I was on so many committees, and involved in so many volunteering efforts, that it seemed sensible to consolidate that work by becoming a councillor as a proud member of the NSW Labor Party.

The last 5 years, under a Labor-led Council, we saw huge gains as a progressive metropolitan council. I really believe that we made great things happen in that time, including:

ENVIRONMENT

  • 100% Renewable Energy
  • Target – Transition to zero emissions commenced
  • Protected natural areas
  • Electric Vehicle Charging
  • Network & Fleet
  • Zero litter to river target
  • Banned single use plastics at Council

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Ryde Riverwalk extended
  • Civic Centre redevelopment
  • Rowe Street Carpark
  • 25km of new footpaths and cycleways
  • 150km of new roads
  • Sea wall upgrades at Meadowbank, Putney and Morrison Bay

OPEN SPACE

  • 15 Playgrounds rebuilt
  • Expansion of Blenheim Park
  • New Park at Kings Park Denistone East
  • Meadowbank Skate Park
  • Masterplans for Gannon, Meadowbank, Magdala and Westminster parks.

FINANCIAL STABILITY AND SUPPORT

  • Strong and balanced financial record
  • $400 COVID rebate for ratepayers
  • $2000 Small business support grant
  • Waived sports, outdoor dining and business fees during the pandemic
  • Supported town centre small business growth
  • Reduced waste levy charge

I love being a Councillor and I think I am privileged to have the opportunity to represent the people of Central Ward and Ryde as a whole.
